If you have any questions which are not answered here, please get in touch via the ‘contact me’ page.

What is hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a relaxed and focused state of mind where you are more open to suggestions. It’s a natural state of heightened concentration, and it's commonly used to help people address various issues, such as trauma, anxiety, phobias and habits or addictions.

Can anyone be hypnotised?

Most people can be hypnotised, as long as they are willing and open to the process. People with powerful imaginations and people with good levels of concentration usually respond well to hypnosis. People who are very resistant to the process or are unwilling to engage may not get the positive results that they are looking to achieve.

Will I be out of control during hypnosis?

No, you do not lose control whilst in a hypnotic state. You will remain fully aware of your surroundings and be in control of your actions. You can always choose to reject the suggestions made by myself if they don't fit with your values.

How does hypnotherapy work?

I will guide you into a deeply relaxed state of focused attention. Whilst in this state, we can find the root causes of your problem as well as suggesting new behaviours, thoughts or ways of thinking that can help you improve the specific area in your life that we are working on.

Is hypnotherapy safe?

Hypnotherapy is safe when conducted by a trained and certified professional like myself. It’s a natural process that doesn’t involve any harmful procedures or substances. There is a small group of people suffering with specific mental health conditions which cannot engage in hypnotherapy. I will find this information out with you prior to a session.

How do I know if hypnotherapy is right for me?

Hypnotherapy can be an excellent option for many people looking to get to the route cause of the problem they are facing. Many people will come to hypnotherapy having tried medications or talking therapies and not felt the benefit they were looking for. If you have specific goals or challenges, you can freely discuss these with me to see how we can best help you.

How many sessions will I need?

The number of sessions you will need will differ depending on your specific circumstance and the problem that is being addressed. Some clients may see significant results after just one or two sessions, while others may need more sessions.

Will I remember what happened during the session?

In most cases, you will remember the session and the content of it when it has finished. However, you may feel very relaxed or slightly detached from the process while you are in a hypnotic state. Some people can experience partial or complete amnesia from the session, but this is not common.

Can hypnosis make me do things against my will?

No, hypnosis cannot make you do anything against your will or do anything that is against your values or belief system. Hypnosis is just a therapeutic tool that can help enhance your awareness and focus, and is not a means of gaining control over you.

Is hypnotherapy the same as stage hypnosis?

No, stage hypnosis is mostly used for entertainment purposes, and usually isn’t used in a therapeutic way. In my sessions, I will be delivering therapeutic hypnosis to help you find relief from the challenges you are facing.

What should I expect during a hypnotherapy session?

During a session, I will guide you through a relaxation process, helping you become deeply focused and relaxed. Once we achieve this state, I can work with you based of your individual challenges. You are then brought out of hypnosis very quickly. For a short period afterwards, you may feel very relaxed or even sleepy. I offer two session lengths, either 60 minutes or 90 minutes.

Can hypnotherapy help with chronic pain?

Yes, hypnotherapy has been shown to be effective in managing chronic pain. It works by altering the way the brain processes pain signals and helping you to reduce your perception of pain.
